Then and now - How Japan has changed
Now: Japan is now ran by a government which makes decions for the Japan. Japan Is a Decromacy and people are treated the same.
Back then: Japan had a feudal system and it was ran by the Emperor. People had their place in the society (check my page on Japanese Feudal System) and weren't treated equally.
Now: Japan supports all religions and are all accepted a wide range of Japan follow different religions and their beliefs.
Back Then: Japan had Shinto and Buddhism. They were the most common religions in Japan during the Medieval times.
Now: Japan has a court and the accused has a fair chance of telling their side of the story and the events which had unfolded.
Back then: Punishment was extreme in Medieval Japan. The death penalty was used very often compared to physical pain. It was often the punishments for a crime large or small that they'd be killed. For not respecting a higher rank would result in death
